[glow=Blue,2,300]Hollies[/glow]
The largest of the holiday dragons, the Holly is a coveted prize amoung Tenders. First discovered hen tenders were still few and far between, and when the origonal wild Hollies were a dyeing breed, all Hollies today are cabtive bred, with the exeption of a few "ferral" hollies that either escapted captivity or were released.
With only a few hundred in existance, every 12 years, during their breeding season, there is a frenzied rush to get the few eggs available. They have become a ststus symble, with the oldest players, and those dedicated enough to either serch for them or rish enough to buy them, the only ones to have them.
Color Variation
Almost all hollies look exactly the same, due to harsh inbreeding while the origonal wild ones were going extinct. There is a rare resessive gene which is in both seasonal dragons and Hollies, which results in a color Variation known as "Reversal", which causes the Major colors to reverse.
In the cause of the Holly, This either makes a Gold dragon with a Red Belly, a Green dragon with Red wings and tail fans, or a Red dragon with gold wings and tailfan, and a green belly. In only 1 in 100 cases of "reversal", there will be three color changes, such as a Green dragon with a red belly and gold wings, or a Gold dragon with a green belly and red wings.
Personality and breed quirks
Hollies are not particuarly good at anything, or particuarly bad at anything, or have anythng realy special about them, besides their breeding season and rarity. They are even tempered, genraly nice to others, dont realy eat too much, and genraly dont have the most outgoing personality.
Powers and abilitys
The Hollies only power is its ability to magicly make Holly Bushes grow. This can be cute, and wild birds like to make nests in the bushes, but it get rather useless after your territory is covered in Holly bushes.
Most common Dutys within the clans
Not being particuarly good or bad at anything, and being more of a "Trophy Dragon", Hollies tend to just sit around, chatting to other dragons, and occasionaly producing a nicly linaged egg.
Diet
All Holly dragons eat is parts of the Holly bush. Good thing they can make their own.
Breeding
Just like every other christmas dragon, Hollies can only lay or sire Holly eggs during the breeding season, which is only once every 12 years. Their eggs are remarkably fragile, needing many times more care than even a metalic egg.
Habitat and what their den needs
Hollies arnt realy fussy about their den. They like it to be coler, but will put up with heat to be nearer to their closest friends. They like to have a large enough Den to stand up, sreach and lounge about in, but dont mind sharing a larger den, and wont complain if they dont have too much elbow room.
The hatchlings require more care though, needing an exact temprature, a roomy and raised up bed to keep them clean, and the playmates they have as hatchlings will have a slight effect on the adult Holly, with happy and cheerful breeds making a slightly more happy and cheerful adult holly, and scared and shy playmates will make a slighly shyer adult Holly.
Scale sale/what can they give me to sell?
Holly scales are hard on the outside, but leathery underneith. The underscale can be striped off the shell of the shed scales, and woven into expensive garments. The hard outer layer can be melded by heat into goblets, plates, sword handles or anything else that takes your fancey.
The hatchlings scales are sewn onto clothing, bags and the like as decoration.
