A long long time ago, Dragons still roamed freely throughoutthe dimentions, and men and women raised them. This was prion to the year 0001, and in that year, somthing happened. A madman who had lost all his dragons used the last of his magic, and his life, to seal up DC, and forcing every tender back into Terra, and every dragoin back into the dimentions they first came from.
Over the next 200 years, the last tenders began to age and die, cut off from their dragons. As they died, the storys they told were retold, became twisted into myths and legends, and the dragons were almost compleetly forgotten. But deep down, mand connection to dragons remained, and men still lived in fear and awe of them, even when they could no longer see, smell and touch them.
It remained like this for over 2000 years. Without the dragons that forced many able bodyed people to leave the workforce, and demanded a certin level of care (a cave to live in, prey/a place to forrage, a mate and a dedicated tender), the humans in the dmention Terra florished. They florished so much in fact, that they began to fight more over space, when once one group would have simply moved into another dimention, where the dragon dung in the soil produced rich harvests and strong livestock.
By the year 2014, the world was taking a massive downturn. There was almost no space left for the increesing populations, and the farms that produced the food for these billions of people were becoming exausted, the soil too poor to be useful for growing much at all. All looked lost for the people of the dimention Terra.
Then, in 2015, a young man called TJ rediscovedred the portal that had been used to travel to the dimention known as Dragon Cave, or DC. The magic that had held it closed for so long was weakened by time, and after a few weeks of studying it, TJ was able to open it, and travel to DC.
What he found was amazing. Dragons laid on piles of Gold, they had been in slumber since the portals were closed, waiting for someone to free them from the cave, into their Biomes within DC.
It took a few months, but eventualy TJ got enough of the biomes open to wake the dragons. He also open the portal to another dimention, a lush landscape of rolling plains with low, cavern filled mountain ranges. Thats when he began to raise his own dragons.
Within the next few years, he let the secret out to all his closest friends, who joined him in this new occupation. Everyone thought they must have been dead, seeing as they seemed to have dissapeared of the face of the earth.
In 2020, several countrys were forced to announce that people could only have a single child, because of the population crisis, and that several disricts had to be rlocated to old farms, and their old homes were to be demolished and made into new farms.
As TJ and his fellow tenders discovered more dimentions, they had a brilliant idea. Why not save the world, but letting people in on their secret? They had dragons to defend themselves if it turned nasty, and TJ had learnt the Mgic needed to reclose the gate to Terra if needs be.
When they showed several world leaders what they had found, they were hailed as heros. Insted of relocating people onto old farms, as the goverments had been doing, they relocated them to other dimentions. These new communitys thrived, and soon the population stree on Terra was under control.
Soon enough, a town was founded outside the Terran side of the portal, as a military base. The goverments did not want terrorits to destroy it. Eventualy, this became a large city, and a large castle that had been built on the hill thousands of years before was restored, to be used as a school for those who wished to raise dragons.
100 years on, in the year 2125, is when our fan fictions start. Terra is no longer over crowded, with large farms, and even forrests, again noticable in the landscape. There are no longer any single child policies, and teenagers from all over the world come every year to train to become dragon tenders.
The first dimention that the tenders settled in, and several like it, became "starter" dimentions, which unfortunatly lost their wildlife due to poor conservation, so only have varius diffrent domestic animals and mostly only domestic plants, and the tenders are essentialy fed by the towns that soround them.
Where TJ's clan is now, nobody knows. He still shows up in DC every now and again, and always is serching for more dimentions, but where he moved his clan is unknown. But their Thuwed bloodlines are well represented in many other clans.
The journey to becoming a Tender is not easy, and many people come home after loosing everything trying to raise even just one dragon. Or even loosing that one dragon to a Lag Monster attack.
